The Power of Fear

Image credit: truthnow.comStatements about the dangerous expansion of socialism, anarchism, environmentalism and “liberalism” illustrates the success of the media elites in propagandizing society. It’s almost as if people are still looking under their beds for the bogeyman or communists. But these are myths, popularized by the tee-vee news-entertainment industry are intended to keep the citizenry on edge and dependent on a bloated federal government and equally bloated preachers running tax free businesses with ill gotten gains.

Beyond that, there’s a constantly changing list of enemies beyond our borders, supposed rogue states, trigger happy and ready to invade the United States the moment military spending is cut and the monies are returned to the rightful owners, the citizens. Force fed by the media, the whole charade is intended to keep everyone on edge, so the folks in the Pentagram can keep sending their buddies at Raytheon and Lockheed billion dollar checks.

After all, how can government stay in business if it’s shown it’s not needed?

But forget the invaders. Let’s get back to those serious threats already inside our borders. Socialists, anarchists, enviro-wackos and liberals. Is anyone really staying up at night worried about employee owned enterprises? Cooperatives? Probably not, but what is scary is state sponsored capitalism. Beyond the defense industry, the government supports the highly destructive cattle industry with subsidies and permits allowing cattlemen to graze on public lands. Public grazing is a completely unsustainable practice that is very damaging to ecosystems. Native flora and fauna are wiped out and replaced by non-native species of grass and an animal from the swampy lowlands of southeast Asia.

And now the government is supporting big oil, but not because the boys with the ten gallon hats are going broke. It’s so they can sock away record profits while young American boys in helmets die doing their bidding. Frankly, it’s murder, and if you support the war in Iraq, you’re complicit in the act of murder.

Why are people so terrified of peace? What’s so scary about wanting a healthy environment? I’ll tell you what’s scary. The people that fear egalitarian economics, freedom, peace, equality and a healthy planet fear it because they see these things as threats to business. In their mind, it’s Polar bears and peace over profits. Or, maybe it’s just education. Maybe people are propagandized to the degree they fear anything that seems contrary to the status quo. Peaceniks and treehuggers are the new savages on the continent, soon to be herded off to reservations, otherwise known as interment camps.

Don’t think these camps exist? Guess again, because they most certainly do exist, and there’s a flea infested bunk waitin’ for you, pard.

It’s all about fear. Fear of anything that ain’t like you.

Can anything turn the tide? Probably not. The United States is one of the most war-like nations the planet has ever seen. Our military “installations” are more vast than any military in the history of the world. We have more firepower than any nation in history, and to date, we’re still the only nation to have used nuclear force. Yet, we constantly complain about all sorts of nations being nuclear threats. The government and citizens of the United States supported legalized slavery, participated in mass genocide and patriarchy throughout its history, and now the country is essentially a theocracy controlled by a wealthy, ruling elite that embrace a concept known as Success Christianity.

What makes anyone think this is going to change now that we have a real despot in office, the vast majority of people believe that some god is in control, and we’re locked into a one party system (the business party) with two factions?

I’m just looking for someone, anyone, to tell me how and why this is going to change before Peak Oil hits the high water mark and there’s nowhere to fill up the tanks and airplanes. Stand up and be heard.
